Tarzan of the Apes
Tarzan of the Apes in 1918 was the first Tarzan movie ever made. It was directed by Scott Sidney and starred Elmo Lincoln, Enid Markey, George B. French, and Gordon Griffith. The movie was based upon the original novel "Tarzan of the Apes". It was filmed in 1917 in Morgan City Louisiana, using the swamps as a jungle.
The story line starts as a couple were traveling on ship bound for Africa and it was taken over by mutineers. They were then marooned onto a tropical coast. After the parents death, their infant son was adopted by Kala (An ape) who raised him as her own. Tarzan soon becomes the king of apes. The captain of the ship that had been taken over goes back 10 years later to find the couple, and he discovers the ape man. He then returns back to England to report the survival to the family. A scientist decides to leads an exploration to investigate, on the trip his daughter Jane was kidnapped. Tarzan saved her and he romanced her. She than fell in love with him and learned his ways.
After this silent film was released a total of 48 different Tarzan movies were released afterwards. The latest being Disney's Tarzan II, released in 2005.
